This is the original belt driven surface drive. With 4 years of testing in the swamps of south Louisiana, this motor and it's components have proven their durability. This is not something we came up with last year and hurried to the market. When buying a surface drive you should ask yourself this, "Would I buy a gun that has never been tested or a boat that has never seen a hardcore season?" Then I would be careful buying a surface drive that has never been tested under hardcore conditions. With the Gator-Tail you don't need to worry, we've been there and done that. The self aligning synchronizing belt is the only belt that should ever be used in a surface drive application. The Kevlar belt is so durable it will run a 100HP Harley-Davidson over 100,000 miles before replacing. We do not use offset tooth designed belts because I have had personal experience with these. Under heavy usage and impacts I have seen offset tooth designd belts shred to pieces. The self aligning Carbon Kevlar belts will out perform any other type of belt design. We have 4 years of proof to verify that.

The Gator is equipped with a forward and a neutral gear and uses a specially designed electric clutch. With the long tail motors this was not necessary but with the new short tails it is an absolute must. Take a test drive with one with a neutral and one without and let us know which one you would rather have. This single feature has revolutionized how you operate a mud motor. No more turning it off, holding it out of the water, tying it down, warming it up on the trailer... you get my point. It is awesome to have neutral. It makes picking up decoys a breeze, loading the boat easy and simply makes your hunting experience more enjoyable.
